Where: Mozingo, Marysville Missouri
Weather: 80° partially cloudy and windy
We took a two day trip down to Mozingo. This lake is awesome because it is only two hours from Omaha, it’s large enough to run a boat at full speed and the fishing is awesome. The first day all three of us fished from around 8am-3pm. There was a bass tournament this same day so the lake was pretty crowded but there was still plenty areas to find the fish.
We fished mainly in the north creek where we found the channel and weaved our way through. Most of the fish we caught were near the main lake were the wind was rough and we were close to deep water. Then also we fished in two different coves on the west side of the lake around some timber.
We threw mainly soft plastic baits or crank baits and most of the fish were between 1-2lbs. We ended up the first day with around 20 bass, 1 walleye and 2 crappie.
Overall Ranking: 5 Star
Great Lake, multiple locations with good boat ramps. Great water clarity and varying fishing structures to search around. Multiple different species and plenty of space for fisherman and boaters as long as your ok with the drive.
The second day we went back up to the creek and caught some more but it was a little different trying to find the fish because a storm told through the night before and changed the water clarity and temperature.
We still managed to catch plenty of fish and the lake was almost empty this day since it was a Monday morning. We also found a cove on the east side were the fish were still spawning on a gravel bottom area and caught quite a few there including a 5lber that was absolutely massive (pics below). It was a huge fish and would have weighed more except it was fairly skinny like it had not fully recovered yet after the spawn.
Dedicatedly recommend this lake to anyone who has a day they could travel to it!
